Down the Bitcoin Rabbit Hole is a visually stunning and thought-provoking animated artwork that takes the viewer on a journey through the depths of the Bitcoin world. The piece features an astronaut character, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, as he falls down an infinite rabbit hole.
The Concept
Falling down the bitcoin rabbit hole is a fascinating and eye-opening experience. For many (such as myself) it starts with learning the fundamental flaws of the fiat money system: inflation, government control, and the ability for banks and the wealthy to manipulate the economy.
This infinite loop animation follows our subject — an astronaut in an orange jumpsuit — down the bitcoin rabbit hole, where they begin to see the potential for a future where a decentralized currency like bitcoin can provide a more stable and fair financial system.
Visual Elements
The background is filled with a mesmerizing swirl of structures, characters, colors and shapes that represents the complexity and vastness of the Bitcoin world. Falling deeper down the rabbit hole leads to an understanding of the underlying technology of bitcoin and its potential applications beyond just currency.
The journey can also include learning about the community and culture surrounding bitcoin, including the ideas of decentralization, censorship resistance and the importance of financial sovereignty. As the astronaut travels deeper down the bitcoin rabbit hole, he finds himself in a utopian world, a place where freedom and decentralization thrive.
Creative Process
Created in collaboration with AI using a large set of AI-generated images and original artwork by Lucho Poletti; mixing and merging these elements into a storytelling animation.
A series of 12 base images were generated using Midjourney, edited in Photoshop, and composed in a zooming sequence. Once the base composition was set, a new, larger set of AI images were generated using a combination of Midjourney and Stable Diffusion models. Original artwork was added to the detailed elements in the refining stage. The astronaut character was created using Disco Diffusion and edited in Photoshop. Animation created using After Effects.
Sound Design
Down the Bitcoin Rabbit Hole uses licensed music: "Cinematic Cyberpunk" by Valentina Gribanova. For the sound design, the track was edited to create the loop with added sound effects: air phasing, whooshes, and subtle digital sounds.
This artwork is a powerful visual representation of the limitless possibilities of Bitcoin and the potential of a decentralized future.
