"Be Your Own Bank"

When I got into bitcoin, the rallying cry was "Be your Own Bank"—a revolution in money. We didn't care if banks or governments bought our bags because we were too busy taking back our freedom. "Fuck banks, buy bitcoin" wasn't just a slogan. It was the energy of a global run on the banks to bitcoin.

Bitcoin changed my life. It freed me—from fiat, from false promises, from the system. Now, I channel that freedom into my art. Bank Runners is my message: Run before it's too late.

The Satoshi Mask

What was missing from Bitcoin art was a representation of Satoshi Nakamoto—the anonymous creator who kicked off this digital revolution. Since Satoshi is anonymous, I redrew the Guy Fawkes mask with a Bitcoin logo on the forehead, in the third eye region. It became an empty vessel I could fill with ideas—a character to embody the philosophy of Bitcoin.

Bank Runners Lore

When I began creating Bitcoin art, my mission was clear: expose the cracks in the fiat system and inspire people to break free with Bitcoin. Bank Runners confronts a hard truth: fractional reserve banking is a ticking time bomb. In a bank run, only the fastest escape. Bank Runners is a call to outrun a collapsing system—toward Bitcoin, toward sovereignty.

2018

Bitcoin Bank Runner poster — It all started with the original Bitcoin Bank Runner poster—a defiant figure running on the banks. It was more than a poster—it was a manifesto.

2019

Run on the Banks — I used animation to transform the poster design into a visual narrative that follows a man who stumbles upon a bag of cash outside the bank.

2020

Select Works — First series of animated certificates using a banknote style to tell stories about bitcoin.

Developing the Banknote Aesthetic

The banknote aesthetic emerged from a fascination with the intricate engravings found on historical currency. By appropriating this visual language for Bitcoin art, I create a deliberate tension: using the aesthetic of centralized money to celebrate decentralized money.

Early works in this style include:

• Currency Independence Dollar (2018)
• Digital Gold (2018)
• The Separation of Money And State (2018)
• Creation and Destruction (2019)

The Bank Runners collection represents the culmination of this aesthetic journey—1776 unique banknotes (a nod to revolutionary independence) that tell the story of opting out of the banking system and into Bitcoin.
