About Lucho Poletti

Lucho Poletti is a digital artist creating visual propaganda to fuel the peaceful monetary revolution.

Highly regarded as a top artist within the Bitcoin community, Lucho has been a full time crypto-artist since 2018. Lucho's visual range spans from propaganda posters and bank notes to elaborately detailed and heavily symbolic animations.

Lucho's mission is to "spread the message of better money" with artwork designed to draw attention to the failures of fiat money and the decentralized solution.

Lucho was born and raised in Miami, FL to immigrant parents who encouraged him to focus on art as a child. From a young age he went through sketching, drawing, and advanced placement art classes, where he learned to use traditional tools to transform his ideas into images.

Lucho explored other interests in his teenage years, mostly music and home film/documentary making with friends. Lucho played drums in post-hardcore bands and was on staffs of evangelical churches as a drummer, where he played with other bandmates who liked to stay after hours like him to test the drop-D and double kick pedal after the church songs were rehearsed.

Entering adulthood, Lucho found himself in business school as people around him convinced him art wasn't worth pursuing. He attained a M.S. in Finance in 2012 and was on track for an analyst job at an investment bank, passing the CFA Level 1 exam and planning his entry into the workforce.

Lucho decided against joining the investment banking industry and worked in business intelligence at consumer packaged goods companies from 2013 to 2017. This taught him a number of things from marketing and consumer psychology to boring things like how to build out entire analytics systems from data warehouses.

Viva Mexico?

Lucho briefly put his career on hold in 2015-2016 to teach himself graphic design and digital art creation, scrapping together an a dissenting art brand and getting a feel for creating and sharing art on the computer.

In early 2018, Lucho ditched his last corporate job to create bitcoin-related digital art full-time and relocated to Mexico to make it happen.

Lucho Poletti's Journey: A Timeline

2018

Lucho started his crypto art journey in 2018 under the pseudonym "HODL CRYPTO". He felt a strong conviction that simply holding decentralized money instead of fiat money controlled by bankers was itself an act of defiance.

The command itself held weight as a form of repetitive propaganda, each time forcing viewers to consider whether they are or not; whether they should or not.

Lucho continued to focus on poster designs, developing the iconic I want you to use Bitcoin poster inspired by Uncle Sam's propaganda as well as the original Bitcoin bank runner poster and Cryptopolis.

Developing the Banknote Aesthetic

"The banknote aesthetic emerged from a fascination with the intricate engravings found on historical currency. By appropriating this visual language for Bitcoin art, I create a deliberate tension: using the aesthetic of centralized money to celebrate decentralized money."

The Art of Better Money documentary

The Bitcoin Movement

2025:” Released "Bank Runners" - 1776 unique digital banknotes embodying the revolutionary spirit of breaking free from the fiat system.

Bank Runners

"When I got into bitcoin, the rallying cry was 'be your own bank'. We were participating in a revolution in money.

We didn't care if banks or governments bought our bags because we were too concerned with taking back our freedom. 'Fuck banks, buy bitcoin' wasn't just a slogan. It was the energy of a global run on the banks.

My artistic mission is clear: expose the cracks in the fiat system and inspire people to break free with sound money. Bank Runners confronts a hard truth: fractional reserve banking is a ticking time bomb. In a bank run, only the fastest escape. Bank Runners is a call to outrun a collapsing system toward sovereignty.

Bitcoin changed my life. It freed me from fiat, from false promises, from the system. Now, I channel that freedom into my art. Bank Runners is my message: Run before it's too late."  - Lucho Poletti
