HODLCRYPTO: The Origins of Bitcoin Propaganda Art

Before NFTs, before the metaverse hype—there were posters. Physical, tangible pieces of Bitcoin propaganda designed to hang on walls and spark conversations. This is where HODLCRYPTO began.

The HODLCRYPTO Era (2018-2019)

I started creating Bitcoin art under the HODLCRYPTO brand in 2018. The focus was simple: create powerful visual propaganda that could spread the Bitcoin message beyond the digital realm.

The Poster Collection

The early poster designs drew from vintage propaganda aesthetics, pharmaceutical advertising, and political art movements:

Sound Money = Sound Mind — The Dr. Satoshi character presenting Bitcoin as the cure for fiat's ailments.

HFSP (Have Fun Staying Poor) — A direct message to the skeptics.

A Global Solution — Bitcoin as the answer to a broken monetary system.

Better Money Records — Riffing on vinyl record aesthetics.

Real Criminals Use Dollars — Flipping the narrative on crypto criminality.

From Posters to NFTs

These designs laid the foundation for everything that followed. When I minted my first NFT in January 2019, the visual language was already established.

"The best propaganda doesn't feel like propaganda. It feels like truth you've been waiting to hear."
